WInter is Coming!
The Washington Balalaika Society’s 55-piece orchestra will present music from a variety of time periods, genres, and composers, such as Ukrainian composer Myroslav Skoryk’s hauntingly beautiful”Melody in A Minor,” Ivanovici’s “Waves of the Danube,” selections from the ever-popular musical, Fiddler on the Roof, a special arrangement of Nino Rota’s “Speak Softly, Love” (the theme from The Godfather), and selections from Tchaikovsky’s beloved The Nutcracker Suite.
The concert will feature guest artist and amazing domrist Ekaterina Skliar as well as audience favorite and balalaika virtuoso, Andrei Saveliev.
The Washington Balalaika Society is a community orchestra of musicians who perform the music of Eastern Europe, Ukraine, Russia, and many other countries, on traditional folk instruments. It is the largest orchestra of its kind in America and has been performing in the Greater Washington, D.C. area for almost 40 years. WBS supports the Ukrainian people and provides humanitarian support for displaced Ukrainian refugees.
