6th Annual Asian Festival On Main

Fairfax City will host the 6th Annual Asian Festival on Main on Sunday, May 17, according to the Old Town Fairfax Business Association. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in historic Old Town Fairfax.
This year’s festival is set to celebrate the “Year of the Horse” with Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races as the presenting sponsor.
The Asian Festival on Main was established by the OTFBA in 2021. Its purpose is to unite the community and showcase cultural diversity through various food and entertainment options. The annual street festival has expanded to become a significant Asian showcase in the Washington D.C. Metro region, with an expected attendance of more than 20,000.
The free, family-friendly event will feature a full schedule of live entertainment and cultural performances. Attendees can expect more than 60 Asian food vendors and food trucks, along with more than 60 non-food vendors and exhibitions. Other attractions include kids’ activities, a cosplay runway, a beer garden, and karaoke.
New additions this year will include the Otaku Garden, dedicated to Japanese pop culture. There will also be a Panel Discussion on Asian Food Culture and an Asian Cultures Showcase offering hands-on activities for all ages.
“Asian Festival on Main has become one of our community’s most exciting celebrations, bringing people together to experience the food, performances, and traditions of Asian cultures,” said Jinson Chan, the event’s co-chair. “We’re grateful for the incredible support from the City of Fairfax, our sponsors, local businesses, and volunteers who help make this festival possible each year in Old Town Fairfax.”
This annual event coincides with Asian American Native Hawaiian & Pacific Islander Heritage Month in May. The City of Fairfax is an integral partner of the festival.
A special proclamation ceremony will take place on Tuesday, May 12, at during the 7 p. m. City Council Meeting at Fairfax City Hall, located at 10455 Armstrong St.
